SEN Teaching Assistant / Support Worker
Location: Welwyn Garden City
Contract Type: Full Time Term Time Only
Salary: £95-£120 per day, depending on experience
Hours 8:30am -3:30pm
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant / Support Worker to join our dedicated team at our specialist school for children and young people aged 2-19. Our pupils have a range of complex needs including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Autism.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality, person-centred support to students within the classroom and beyond.
Assist students with their learning and development, both academic and life skills.
Support students with personal care needs, following individual care plans.
Facilitate community-based learning experiences to help students develop independence and real-world skills.
Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to implement tailored learning plans.
Ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all pupils.
Requirements:
Previous experience supporting children or adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is essential.
Must hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS for both the Child and Adult Workforce, registered on the Update Service.
Must have the right to work in the UK.
A patient, empathetic approach with a passion for helping students reach their full potential.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:
Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods.
Manual handling or personal care experience.
Relevant qualifications in Health & Social Care or Education.
