About the role
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will join an established Digital Spine and Middleware platform team within CBS. This role is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving production incidents or problems independently, escalating to Senior Infrastructure Engineers if necessary. The engineer will implement system enhancements in our Cloud Infrastructure, complete tasks to high standards within set timescales, and seek process improvements. They will support peers, contribute to team efficiency through accurate technical documentation, and maintain an enterprise view.
* Independently troubleshoot and resolve product and infrastructure service incidents.
* Maintain scripts, automate code, review logs, assist with build and configuration activities, and manage the technical estate.
* Prioritize tasks effectively to ensure high-priority activities are completed first.
* Support change implementation where technical competence allows.
* Maintain an enterprise-wide perspective on infrastructure.
This role requires working in the office at least 2 days per week, either shared between Manchester and Coventry or at either site.

About you
Essential skills:
* Strong knowledge of containers in AWS, especially Kubernetes and Docker, or IBM Middleware technology including API Connect.
* Excellent service mindset prioritizing IT service quality.
* Experience with Kong, Istio, Calico, Datadog, microservices, and coding in Terraform.
* Willingness to learn and embrace new technologies.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Attention to detail and thoroughness.
* Ability to deliver on timescales and produce clear documentation.
Flexible working hours and participation in a callout rota are expected to meet objectives and support colleagues.
