Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated and driven Customs Administrator to support European Transit (T2) movements across the Great Britain landbridge and oversee SPS‑controlled consignments. The role is integral to ensuring smooth and compliant movement of goods across international borders and supporting an established Customs Department within a leading logistics company.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate customs transit documentation for EU‑origin goods moving via Great Britain.
* Manage SPS‑controlled consignments, including the preparation and submission of CHEDs, health documentation and pre‑notifications to competent authorities (DAFM, DAERA, NVWA, SIVEP).
* Ensure alignment between transit documents, commercial paperwork and SPS declarations to avoid delays, inspections or penalties.
* Monitor movements through ports and Border Control Posts to ensure compliance and timely release.
* Computerise data entry into multiple bespoke customs software packages, such as Traces Trader Support Service and Thyme IT.
* Document and control mandatory customs functions in compliance with all procedures.
* Liaise with stakeholders throughout the customs process to ensure efficient transport of goods.
* Complete a unique customs training program to enhance expertise.
* Work as part of a dynamic Customs Department to meet tight deadlines.
* Perform other tasks including query resolution, month‑end reporting and general administrative duties.
Skills & Experience
* 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grade C (Maths & English).
* ICT experience, especially with Microsoft Packages.
* Ability to multitask, work as part of a team and meet tight deadlines.
* Strong communication skills.
* Previous customs related experience preferable but not essential.
* 1 year experience working in a fast‑paced logistics office environment.
Additional Information
Full training will be provided, including structured support on customs systems, transit procedures and SPS requirements. Flexibility with working patterns is required due to the time‑critical nature of cross‑border logistics and port operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail‑oriented, eager to learn, and keen to develop a specialist skill set within international customs and logistics.
