A progressive Independent School in Barnet is seeking a thoughtful and engaging Sociology Teacher for a permanent, full-time role commencing in September. The successful Sociology Teacher will inspire students in Key Stages 4 and 5 to critically examine society and social interactions.
Responsibilities
* Design and deliver stimulating Sociology Teacher lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5.
* Prepare students thoroughly for examinations in Sociology, ensuring a deep understanding of key theories.
* Cultivate a classroom environment that encourages debate and critical analysis of sociological concepts.
* Assess and track student progress in sociology, providing insightful feedback as a Sociology Teacher.
* Contribute to the development of the sociology curriculum and relevant teaching materials.
* Promote an awareness of social issues and the diverse perspectives within society.
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism in Sociology.
* Proven experience teaching Sociology at the secondary level, including Key Stage 5.
* A strong academic background in sociology and a passion for the subject.
* Excellent communication and facilitation skills, capable of leading engaging discussions as a Sociology Teacher.
* Ability to motivate students to think critically and independently about sociological issues.
* A commitment to teamwork and a supportive approach to colleagues and students.
* Inner London Payscale.
