Chemistry Analyst – South East Water UK
Part‑time role (16 hours per week) working weekends, typically 9am–5pm.
Overview
Assist in ensuring water quality for 4.4 million people across the UK by preparing and performing routine & non‑routine trace analysis using state‑of‑the‑art analytical instrumentation. Responsibilities also include data interpretation, equipment maintenance, workload organisation and implementation of new methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate instrumentation and perform analysis in line with the Laboratory Management System.
* Maintain and troubleshoot chromatographic, spectrophotometric, colourimetric and preparatory equipment.
* Analyse and interpret data, calculate results, and complete laboratory paperwork.
* Maintain daily logs and equipment record books.
* Enter data into the Laboratory Information Management System within set timeframes.
* Ensure sample stability and turnaround times are met.
* Prepare standards, reagents and Quality Control samples per internal procedures.
Skills / Qualifications / Experience
* Existing knowledge of good laboratory practice.
* Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific subject.
* Willingness to work toward full membership of a professional body.
* Excellent numeracy, literacy, computer literacy and laboratory skills for robust analytical work.
