Accounts Assistant
Part-Time, Permanent (2-3 days per week)

£14.50 - £16.50 per hour

I am recruiting on behalf of a thriving business in Cannock that’s searching for a confident, hands-on Accounts Assistant to join their family.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll be a key player in the day-to-day running of the finance department, with exposure to reporting, compliance, payroll and more. Perfect for someone who enjoys taking ownership and adding value.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
2. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
3. Compile financial reports and present findings to senior management
4. Review and monitor company financial performance, highlighting areas for cost reduction
5. Prepare statutory accounts and support external audits
6. Process payroll and manage related HMRC compliance
7. Handle accruals, prepayments, and general ledger entries
8. Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and inform strategy
9. Assist with accounts payable/receivable and maintaining ledgers
10. Monitor compliance with financial regulations and standards
What we’re looking for:
11. 5+ years’ experience in a finance/accounting role
12. Experience processing payroll and managing related tax filings
13. AAT qualified or working towards ACCA/CIMA
14. Advanced Excel skills and confident using Sage or similar accounting software
