Loughborough Students' Union is a dynamic and vibrant organisation that serves as the voice of students at Loughborough University. We provide a wide range of services, events, and opportunities to enhance the student experience. Our mission is to empower and represent students, offering them the best possible university experience.
This role sits across two departments within the Union: Student Voice and LSU Advice. Student Voice amplifies student views through representation and engagement, while LSU Advice provides impartial guidance on academic and university matters. Together, they ensure students are heard, informed, and supported.
The Student Voice department empowers students to shape their university experience through democratic engagement, representation, and advocacy. It coordinates student voice activities, recruits and trains student representatives and volunteers, and supports student leaders by recognising their achievements. The department also provides administrative and project support to elected Executive Officers, ensuring they can effectively represent students. In addition to facilitating key democratic processes, such as elections, committees, and forums like the Student Voice Committee and LSUggestions.
The department is currently in the process of actively developing initiatives to empower students in leading campaigns on key student issues. Through the provision of resources, guidance, and platforms, it is dedicated to amplifying student voices, fostering meaningful change, and building a more inclusive and engaged student community.
LSU Advice provides impartial, confidential and non-judgmental advice on a range of academic processes or conflicts with the University. The service supports students and doctoral researchers on both the Loughborough and London campus as well as Loughborough College. Whilst this list is not exhaustive, LSU Advice typically supports students with processes including; academic misconduct, appealing results, disciplinary offences, car parking offences, mitigating circumstances, and complaints regarding the University.
