As the Senior Director of Software Engineering - Head of Data Catalog in the Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) Data Platforms team, you will lead the design and engineering of the firmwide data catalog across the Firm. You will build products that enable users across the organization to easily find and access data. You will understand how to best use open standards such as Iceberg and Parquet to support seamless integration across data catalogs and platforms. The products you develop will support data governance and lineage initiatives, helping users understand their data and its origins. As a technical engineering leader, you will oversee the end-to-end journey of data scientists, ensuring tight integration of data catalogs with AI/ML platforms.
Job Responsibilities
* Lead technical engineering efforts for Data Catalog integration across the Firm, implementing interoperability standards like Iceberg.
* Provide leadership and strategic direction to teams across multiple platforms, divisions, and lines of business.
* Execute critical data initiatives focused on data access, governance, entitlements, and infrastructure development using SaaS platforms and AWS.
* Partner with product teams to align technical programs with strategic business outcomes.
* Manage multiple stakeholders and complex, cross-product projects.
* Influence senior leaders and peers across business, product, and technology units.
* Promote the firm's culture of diversity, equity, and respect.
* Prepare and present technical reports and updates to senior leadership, including the Operating Committee.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
* Formal training or certification in software engineering, with significant practical experience and leadership in managing complex technical projects.
* Deep expertise in managing large-scale data platforms, especially their integration with AI/ML solutions.
* Proven proficiency in technical solutions, vendor relations, and solution implementation.
* Ability to align technical strategies with regulatory and business goals.
* Extensive experience with AWS technologies, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and other cloud platforms.
* Experience in hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
* Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
* Proven leadership in managing change, dependencies, and high-pressure environments.
* Expertise in stakeholder management and driving aligned outcomes.
