Join Our Team as a Learning Support Assistant at Redwood River School!
The Old Postern is more than just a stunning building—it's a space rooted in care, connection, and creativity. At Redwood River School, we are building a specialist independent school for neurodivergent children and young people aged 6–18, including those with Autism, PDA, SEMH, developmental trauma and other complex needs.
As an LSA, you’ll be part of a nurturing, reflective team that supports students to feel safe, understood and empowered in their learning. This is a brilliant opportunity to make a real difference every day in a school that values relationships, consistency and curiosity above all else.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Supporting students one-to-one or in small groups, both in and out of the classroom
2. Building strong, trusting relationships with students using relational and trauma-informed approaches
3. Working closely with class teachers to deliver personalised, accessible learning
4. Helping to regulate and support students through their emotional and sensory needs
5. Supporting communication, interaction and independence
6. Contributing to EHCP reviews, planning meetings and wider team reflections
7. Promoting a calm, consistent and creative learning environment
8. Assisting with activities including outdoor learning, therapeutic play, and project-based tasks
Why You’ll Love It Here:
9. A genuinely warm and inclusive team where every voice matters
10. A beautiful, nature-rich setting designed to support wellbeing
11. A relational, low-demand culture where connection comes first
12. Ongoing training and support in trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming practice
13. A chance to be part of something from the ground up—and help shape a new kind of school
What We’re Looking For:
14. Experience working with children or young people with SEND (professional or lived experience welcome)
15. A calm, curious and compassionate approach
16. Commitment to inclusive education and belief in every child’s potential
17. Strong communication and teamwork skills
18. Flexibility, creativity and resilience
19. A willingness to reflect, learn and grow as part of a team
20. An understanding of Autism, PDA, SEMH and/or trauma (desirable but not essential—we offer training)
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students. All applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
