The Opportunity
A globally operating manufacturer of precision engineered components is seeking an exceptional Principal Electrical Engineer to join their Warwick facility. This is a newly created, high-impact role leading the development of next-generation instrumentation products for the world's most demanding heavy vehicle and off-road environments.
This is a role for a true technical expert, someone who can own the full electronics architecture from physics through production, lead a team of development engineers, and drive innovation deployed globally across construction, agriculture, mining, and commercial vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of development engineers across new product programs and customer adaptation projects
* Architect and develop next-generation instrumentation products for harsh, heavy-vehicle environments
* Own end-to-end product design: electronics architecture, signal conditioning, embedded signal processing, validation, and production launch
* Set the technical direction for advanced measurement technologies as the organisation's subject-matter authority
* Lead innovation in signal processing and system robustness; resolve complex, first-principles technical challenges
* Operate within automotive-grade development systems including APQP, DFMEA/PFMEA, and DV/PV validation
* Collaborate with global OEMs and partners on system integration and field validation
* Design for extreme environments: wide temperature ranges, high vibration, shock, EMI/EMC, and chemical exposure
What You'll Bring
* 10+ years of instrumentation or embedded electronics development experience
* 10+ years in the automotive or heavy vehicle industry
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (advanced degree preferred)
* Proven track record bringing commercial engineered products from concept through production
* Deep expertise in analog and mixed-signal circuit design
* Experience with one or more measurement or detection technologies using radar, capacitive, or ultrasonic principles
* Demonstrated ability to design for harsh environments: extreme temperatures, vibration, industrial exposure
* Familiarity with automotive quality processes: APQP, DFMEA/PFMEA, IATF 16949
* Hands-on PCB assembly and troubleshooting skills
* Experience in heavy vehicle, construction, or agricultural equipment markets
* Embedded firmware (C/C++) and automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN) — desirable
* EMI/EMC-robust design and ISO 26262 exposure — desirable
What's On Offer
* £70,000 per annum
* 25 days holiday annually
* Company pension scheme
* Life assurance
* Casual, energetic workplace
* Global product impact across multiple markets
