We have an opportunity for a full-time Assistant Chef to join the Site Services team. This role involves maintaining a quality-focused food service to support our growing customer base, working both in the kitchen and at the servery (customer-facing). The position does not require weekend or late evening shifts.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist and deputise for the Chef in providing daily breakfast, lunch, and hospitality services, including taking site orders and supporting periodic events.
2. Prepare and deliver refreshments for meetings and buffet spreads as required.
3. Prepare, cook, and finish dishes under the instruction of the Chef.
4. Attend the servery counter to take orders, process payments, and serve customers.
5. Complete food and temperature charts and perform routine cleaning of the kitchen and servery area daily, including appliances and surfaces, according to the cleaning schedule.
6. Assist the Chef in planning weekly menus, stock orders, and receiving catering provisions.
7. Practice good food hygiene and uphold health & safety and environmental policies related to kitchen service.
8. Assist in stocking vending machines and managing out-of-hours refreshments at two local locations.
9. Perform other duties as required by the Site & Facilities Manager to support restaurant services.
Minimum Requirements
1. Previous retail kitchen or catering experience.
2. Ability to work as part of a team under varying service pressures.
3. A recognised hygiene and food preparation qualification or certificate.
4. Common sense and initiative.
5. Awareness of allergens, food preparation controls, and dietary needs.
6. Proficient use of IT and transaction/point of sale handling experience.
