Overview
As a Digital Forensic Technician, you will be involved in challenging cases of digital forensics work, supporting investigation teams across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. You will undertake forensic acquisitions following NPCC guidelines and ISO 17025 standards, involving disassembling digital devices and documenting actions taken. Successful candidates will receive bespoke training, including mentorship and external courses. Note: The role involves working with child abuse material, with support measures in place for wellbeing.
About The Role
Your responsibilities include supporting the Digital Forensics Group by managing exhibits, conducting early analysis, and reporting findings. Specific duties include:
1. Processing exhibits in/out, maintaining records, organizing storage, backups, and equipment.
2. Carrying out triage to prioritize exhibits based on evidential potential.
3. Scheduling work and communicating results effectively.
4. Staying updated on technological and forensic developments.
5. Providing technical advice to officers.
6. Managing workload to meet deadlines and court timescales.
7. Delivering consistent and effective service.
High Tech Crime Unit Accountabilities
1. Processing exhibits and extracting evidential data promptly for examination.
2. Managing viewing of evidential data by officers.
3. Performing low-level examinations and producing detailed reports.
4. Advising OIC on evidence relevance.
Phone Examination Unit Accountabilities
1. Using on-area screening devices effectively.
2. Conducting audits of screening devices.
