About the Role
We are seeking a caring, committed, and enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive team in Colchester. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, helping them to access learning and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND
2. Support children with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, speech and language, and social, emotional and mental health needs
3. Assist with the implementation of EHCP targets and individual support plans
4. Promote positive behaviour, inclusion, and independence
5. Support learning both in and outside the classroom
6. Liaise effectively with teachers, SENCo, and other professionals
7. Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and assessments
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
8. Has experience working with children with SEND (school or alternative setting)
9. Is patient, empathetic, and adaptable
10. Has strong communication and teamwork skills
11. Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
12. Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
13. Relevant qualifications or training are desirable but not essential
