Overview

This role is for an experienced investigator to join our National Investigations Team as a Senior Environmental Crime Officer.
Responsibilities
* Lead investigations into the most serious and complex environmental crimes, coordinating all aspects from identifying lines of enquiry to case file preparation and prosecution.
* Work alongside Senior Investigation Managers and the Major Incident Room to drive cases forward, coordinate evidence gathering and interviews, and allocate actions.
* Handle investigations involving organised crime groups, illegal waste exports, and large-scale fraud; develop teams and complex investigations in collaboration with Partnership Organisations.
* Contribute to developing the team and the National Environmental Crime Unit within the National Regulation and Monitoring Team; participate in information sharing and process improvements.
* Respond to incidents as part of a flexible role, with incident support and training provided; be available for incident work which may include additional payment.
Experience / Skills
* High attention to detail, hardworking, and self-motivated with a strong investigative background.
* In-depth knowledge of investigative legislation such as PACE and CPIA; excellent verbal and written communication; basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Teams).
* Knowledge of environmental crime and experience in leading serious criminal investigations; familiarity with Major Incident Room operations is desirable.
* Ability to build and develop investigation teams; proactive, solution-focused, and able to work under pressure.
* Successful completion of SC and NPPV2 Vetting processes within a 6-month probationary period; full valid driving licence required.
