Main duties of the job

The Finance Analyst will be crucial in ensuring the CSU meets its financial targets, including income and margin generation. Responsibilities include working with senior staff and budget holders to manage financial risks and providing financial advice and support to non-finance managers, including discussing complex issues with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced accountant with strong management skills, capable of compiling reports and leading meetings to analyze data and support improvements and efficiencies.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

* Ensure efficient finance operations and contribute to daily management
* Process financial information per procedures, handle complex inquiries, and provide assistance
* Maintain the CSU general ledger related to financial management
* Support development of financial plans (short, medium, long term)
* Create and maintain standard operating procedures and ensure compliance
* Produce financial reports and analyze variances
* Support financial performance across divisions, providing high-quality, customer-focused finance partnering
* Provide tools and data for budget management and financial strategy development
* Contribute to margin improvements and financial performance
* Deliver accurate sales invoicing and review the sales ledger

Development Plans

* Support process improvements, automation, and standardization
* Assist with scenario planning and financial analysis
* Produce financial plans and costings for procurements and service proposals
* Develop financial and commercial training for non-finance staff

Other

* Ensure systems are fit for purpose and generate reliable reports
* Maintain internal controls and address weaknesses

Person Specification

Experience

* Experience working in a finance office environment

Qualifications

* Degree-level or equivalent experience

Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

* Experience in ledger amendments, journals, and budget transfers
* Knowledge of financial management processes and reporting

* Excellent analytical and numerical skills
