An opportunity for a Band 7 Lead Nurse position has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse with Band 6 or Band 7 experience to lead and manage Ward 20. The ward is a 28-bedded Acute Stroke Unit and Care of the Elderly ward, which has a fully established dedicated team.
The successful candidate needs to be organized, self-motivated, and enthusiastic. They should have excellent communication and time management skills. Applicants need to be dynamic and innovative, with good knowledge of caring for medical patients and the ability to drive forward a team of staff with varying levels of experience, knowledge, and skills. They will need to be enthusiastic about patient care and have a compassionate leadership style that supports the health and wellbeing of staff and patients. A good understanding of clinical governance and audits, experience working within a multidisciplinary team, and a commitment to continually improving quality and patient satisfaction are essential. They also need to delegate tasks effectively to support the ward clinically and ensure management responsibilities are met.

Main duties of the job
To provide effective leadership, expertise, advice, and support to the ward, ensuring high-quality care to patients and their families.
To ensure the safe, effective, and efficient overall management of the ward within the allocated resources and budget, in collaboration with the matron, and in accordance with trust policies and procedures.
To consistently maintain and improve patient care and experience.
24-hour responsibility for maintaining a safe environment.
To act as ward manager, determining how objectives for service delivery will be achieved and driving continuous improvement.
Demonstrate a professional approach in line with trust leadership behaviors, the NMC code, and trust values.
Foster an environment supportive of learning and inclusivity.
Ensure ward compliance with all audits, policies, and trust guidance.

Qualifications
* First-level registered nurse (equivalent to a first degree) plus two years' experience at Nurse Grade F or Band 6, with additional qualifications in assessing and mentoring, and evidence of working towards a degree.
* Ongoing professional development within the specialty with demonstrable clinical competencies.
* Basic Life Support training.
* NVQ D32/33 Assessor Course.
* Advanced Life Support training.
