The Civic Attendant's main purpose is to ensure that the Lord Mayor, Sheriff, and the Deputy Lord Mayor and their Consorts arrive at engagements on time, safely, in the correct attire and chain and with the correct information to enable them to carry out all aspects of the event including advice on protocol and speeches. To ensure the safety of the civic heads during the engagement.
To promote, understand and participate in Civic Life of the City of Chester in accordance with the Charter Trustees Regulations and under the direction of the City of Chester Charter Trustees and Civic Manager.
To provide event support to civic events which are delivered on behalf of the City of Chester Charter Trustees.

We are seeking a confident, reliable and highly professional Civic Attendant/Driver to support the Lord Mayor of Chester, the Sheriff and the Deputy Lord Mayor at civic engagements across the city and wider borough. This is a casual role, forming part of a pool of Attendants. The successful candidate can select which engagements they wish to work. Work levels will vary, some weeks may include several daytime, evening or weekend engagements, while others may be quieter.
As a Civic Attendant, you will play a vital role in upholding Chester’s historic civic traditions and you may wish to be involved in the delivery of history civic talks. Your main role will be to ensure the Civic Heads arrive safely, punctually and fully prepared for their engagements, while also safeguarding the valuable civic chains and regalia. You will support a wide range of civic events that celebrate the city’s heritage and community.
You will work in some of Chester’s most historic venues and help maintain traditions that date back centuries. No two weeks are the same, and you will be part of a small, dedicated team representing the city with pride.
If you are flexible, calm, professional and have good communication skills, with a full UK clean driving licence and confidence driving to unfamiliar locations we would like to hear from you.
