We are looking for an Early Years Play Worker to provide support to the Child Development Officers in St John's Nursery. This role involves assisting with practical tasks, preparing teaching materials and resources, and supporting children at mealtimes.
Applicants must have, or be willing to undertake, a minimum qualification of SVQ Level 2 (or NC equivalent) in child care and education (or equivalent as recognised by SSSC). If you do not have the required qualification at application, you must source and fund this training yourself and complete the course within 5 years of starting the role. Experience in a nursery environment with children aged 0-5 years is desirable.
Service and Salary: On completing additional years of service by 1 January each year following your appointment anniversary, your term-time salary will be adjusted to include a payment in lieu of the additional leave day accrued at the start of each leave year, applicable for the first 10 years of service.
Regulated Work and Checks: This position is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. It is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children. If you have lived or worked outside the UK in the past 10 years, an overseas police check may be required.
SSSC Registration: This role requires Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration. You must currently be registered or eligible to apply from the start of employment. You are required to apply for registration within the first 3 months of employment, to ensure it is completed within 6 months.
