We are looking for passionate and dynamic After School Club Teachers to deliver fun and engaging STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) activities for children aged 6–11 at a primary school in YORK YO31. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves working with children and has a background or interest in STEM education.
The club runs weekly from 3:20 pm to 4:30 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays afternoons during term time and includes hands-on projects like building simple LEGO spacestations, telescopes, and showing how things work using creative problem-solving and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver weekly STEM-themed afterschool sessions (approx. 60 minutes)
* Plan and prepare age-appropriate, hands-on activities
* Set up and pack down materials before and after sessions (materials are provided)
* Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
* Engage and motivate children to explore STEM concepts
* Communicate with school staff and parents as needed
* Track attendance and contribute to short session reports
Requirements
* Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting
* Interest or background in STEM (especially engineering, science, or design)
* Excellent classroom or group management skills
* Reliable, punctual, and highly organised
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to undergo a check)
* First Aid trained (preferred, but not essential – training can be provided)
* Eligibility to work in the UK
