Based in the North West of England; home-working role

Our client empowers people with the skills they need to succeed in life. Together, they're helping people change their stories. You could join them to help mobilise thousands of local volunteers in support of their campaign.

What You'll Be Doing

* Lead, develop and co-ordinate a new campaign that engages a national audience and redefines reading for a new generation.
* Mobilise thousands of volunteers across the country by identifying, training and supporting volunteers to promote reading and writing in local communities, including in person or online activities such as community book swaps and reading corners, homework clubs and creating videos.
* Coordinate this work across the North West region, engaging organisations and volunteer groups, and providing training and support, including working with first-time volunteers who sign up to support the campaign.
* Build a new network of volunteers from the ground up, working alongside existing local teams and the central volunteering team as part of a network across the nine English regions.
* Work from home in the North West with regular local travel and occasional national travel; quarterly staff days in London, induction days and three team days in other locations; travel expenses covered.

What Our Client Is Looking For

* Experience recruiting, training and supporting volunteers, and providing project support in a charity or educational context.
* Experience working with early years settings, schools or community organisations, and a good knowledge of safeguarding in this context.
* Experience in community mobilisation and developing resources and training materials is desirable; strong knowledge of issues surrounding reading and writing.
* Must live in the North West region and understand its communities and families; a full clean driving license and access to your own vehicle is required.
* Note: role may involve managing book stocks and other resources.

Why our client's work is vital

Reading and writing change everything. They provide tools to get the most out of life and shape your future, leading to better results at school and better job opportunities. When children grow up without tools to communicate, or access to books and opportunities to write, it becomes harder to reach their goals.

Our client helps people overcome these challenges and improve life chances through the power of words—reading, writing, speaking and listening—from first words through school days to training, jobs and beyond.

What Our Client Offers You

* A strong, mission-driven team culture with flexible working options and an inclusive environment where everyone can contribute to success.
* A competitive salary and benefits including a generous leave allowance totaling 39 days (including bank holidays and office closure between Christmas and New Year), pension contributions of 8% of salary, cycle-to-work scheme, employee assistance programme and other health and wellbeing benefits.

Application details

Our client values diversity in all its forms and welcomes applications from people of Black and Asian backgrounds, candidates with disabilities, and people from the communities where they work. They aim to increase representation of these groups among staff as diversity enhances impact.
