We currently have a vacancy for a Mechanical and Electrical and (Hard) Facilities Manager to join our friendly and professional Facilities and Assets Team.
The Facilities and Assets Team is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Combined Authorities comprehensive property portfolio and also undertake the Client role on development projects. The property portfolio includes Wellington House HQ, around 14000 bus stops and shelters, 22 bus stations and a various commercial and non-operational properties. Further assets including bus depots and other properties will be acquired as part of Bus Reform.
This role will manage and control all the Combined Authorities mechanical and electrical contracts for the repair and maintenance of installations, associated building works and be responsible for the maintenance, operation and effective use of CA vehicles. The post holder will be a key team member involved in developing and monitoring schemes that reduce the CA’s carbon emissions and reduce energy costs and will also be responsible for the day-to-day management and updating of the CA’s asset management system.

The Role
Reporting into the Asset Development Lead, your key responsibilities will include:
• You will lead, manage and be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical installations and building infrastructure across all the CA’s portfolio of properties.
• Lead and manage mechanical, electrical, and building works and contract management of external suppliers and contractors ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, health and safety legislation, key performance indicators and statutory obligations.
• Responsible for procurement, operation, maintenance and repair of CA’s ancillary vehicle fleet and building, mechanical and electrical works producing design briefs, specifications and estimates across all Hard FM services.
• Manage Facilities and Assets 24-hour Hard FM contracted services for the across CA’s portfolio of properties including bus stations, on street infrastructure, offices, rail station car parks and other miscellaneous properties. Create key contract performance indicators, whilst adhering to statutory/contractual responsibilities

About You

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a facilities and assets and/or project delivery environment and have excellent organisation skills. You will be a confident communicator with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships. You will have significant partner relationship management skills and be able to drive progress on project delivery.
You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience:
• Hold a degree in a relevant field or relevant demonstrable practical experience.
• Practical experience of successfully performing in a similar role.
• Demonstrable experience of electrical systems, fire alarms, emergency lighting, ventilation, gas and plumbing service, water hygiene, air conditioning, automatic doors, lifts and escalator installations.
• Significant knowledge and experience of preparing technical specifications in connection with building, mechanical and electrical contracts and contract management.
• Knowledge and experience to act as a Client, Designer and Principal Designer for a wide range of mechanical, electrical and building works.
