We are looking for a caring and motivated Community Phlebotomist to join our team at the Luton Treatment Centre.
In this rewarding role, you will provide essential nursing care support to the Nursing Team, working primarily within a clinic setting while also carrying out home visits when required. You will deliver phlebotomy clinics at the Luton Treatment Centre and support Community Phlebotomists with domiciliary visits as needed.
This is a varied position offering the opportunity to work across different services. During periods of staffing pressure, you may be asked to provide support in other areas, working within your skills and competencies to help maintain high standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the Nursing Team in delivering high-quality patient care.
* Running phlebotomy clinics at the Luton Treatment Centre.
* Assisting with domiciliary visits alongside Community Phlebotomists.
* Providing flexible support to other services when required.
* Delivering compassionate and professional care in both clinic and community settings.
* To support taking out of hours bloods to the laboratory in the evenings.
* To set up clinical areas prior to clinic.
* To chaperone and assist clients attending for procedures.
* Always act as an ambassador for the Luton Treatment Centre.
* To give general advice to patients regarding services.
* Check all equipment prior to clinic and report any defects to appropriate personnel.
* To take appropriate emergency action as required and immediately inform the nurse in charge or manager.
* To assist in the collection of information for audit purposes.
* To rotate stock according to expiry dates.
* To put supplies, pharmacy, logistics, and stores away.
* To ensure bins are emptied at the end of each clinic.
* Assist in taking requests from patients on the phone booking line for clinic phlebotomy.
* To provide basic nursing care support to the DVT Nursing team based at LTC.
* To provide basic dressings as directed by nursing team.
* To assess the client’s registration forms and initiate investigations (including blood pressure, weight, height, and bloods).
Shifts will be either 8:00am – 4:00pm or 11:00am – 7:00pm, depending on service and clinical needs.
