About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Senior Project Surveyor to join our Asset Management team. You will lead a team of three surveyors delivering planned work programmes, maintenance works, and major repairs.
You’ll also take ownership of a small number of key projects, ensuring they’re delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Additionally, you will serve as the go‑to person for technical expertise, work closely with colleagues across Asset Management to resolve complex property maintenance issues, oversee procurement, manage contractors and consultants, and ensure all statutory and health and safety requirements are met.
You will also have financial accountability for projects with budgets up to £10 million.
As a Senior Project Surveyor, you will recruit, support, and motivate your surveyors, hold regular one‑to‑ones, and support the wider Surveying Services Team.
Responsibilities
* Lead a team of three surveyors to deliver planned work programmes, maintenance works, and major repairs.
* Take ownership of key projects, ensuring timely, on‑budget delivery to a high standard.
* Serve as the technical expert for property maintenance, collaborating with the Asset Management team to solve complex issues.
* Oversee procurement, manage contractors and consultants, and ensure statutory and health and safety compliance.
* Account for project budgets, managing financial responsibilities for projects up to £10 million.
* Recruit, support, and motivate the surveyor team, holding regular one‑to‑one meetings.
* Support the wider Surveying Services Team.
Qualifications and Experience
* Solid technical knowledge and hands‑on experience in building surveying.
* HNC/HND or CIOB qualification.
* Strong track record of managing contracts, writing specifications, and delivering projects within budget.
* Experience in residential repair or improvement projects and procurement of contractors and consultants (bonus).
* Confident navigation of building regulations, CDM 2015 requirements, and construction legislation.
* Ability to manage competing priorities, solve problems quickly, and communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internal systems for workload management and reporting.
Other Requirements
* Valid driving licence and access to a road‑worthy vehicle.
* Capability to conduct site inspections using PPE, stairs, and ladders.
* Basic DBS check required; a DBS certificate is considered satisfactory to Housing Solutions.
