Location: We currently have vacancies for a Network Operation Technician to join the Customer Field Services department to cover areas including Leeds, Colburn, Ripon, and York. Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance from our Knostrop wastewater site and be committed to helping Yorkshire Water provide excellent service.
Work type: The four permanent roles involve working rotational 40-hour shifts on a 4 on 4 off basis, which may include late, early, and weekend work patterns. No standby included.
What we do: Yorkshire Water supplies over 5.4 million residents and visitors with clean, safe drinking water and manages wastewater, looking after communities, the environment, and planning for sustainable water management in Yorkshire.
Where You Fit In
As a Network Operation Technician, you will deliver first-time fixes and same-day solutions to customer and environmental issues, and contribute to network maintenance to prevent escapes. You will work in the field, ensuring quality and safety standards, investigating sewer network issues, and working closely with teams and contractors.
Responsibilities include operating different vehicle types, conducting investigations, using IT systems for data collection, and maintaining safety and health standards. Flexibility in working hours and the ability to work in confined spaces are essential, along with a valid driving license.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
* Practical mindset, outdoor work enjoyment, hands-on approach.
* Experience in customer service and face-to-face communication.
* Ability to develop relationships, influence outcomes, and make decisions.
* Fault finding and root cause analysis skills.
* Basic IT skills and experience with internal systems.
* Flexibility to work various shifts and participate in out-of-hours standby rota.
* Ability to pass medical criteria for working in hazardous environments.
* Full valid driving license (no more than 6 points).
Desirable:
* Understanding of sewerage systems and performance issues.
* Experience in water or wastewater sectors or utilities industry.
