This role is a 2‑year FTC with an end date of November 30, 2027.

Can you create dynamic and tempting programmes for our youth? An experienced and relatable individual or couple is needed to engage our youth community, through personal dialogue and exciting programming.

The successful applicant(s) will have the energy and passion to take on the critical job of building our rapidly increasing youth community, to inspire individuals to come together to celebrate their Jewish and community identity. You will have great support from the Rabbinic team, community leadership and parents, who will respect your modus operandi and throw their support and resources behind your ideas and programmes.


SCOPE OF JOB

Can you create dynamic and tempting programs for our youth? An experienced and relatable individual/couple is needed to engage our youth community, both via personal dialogue and through captivating programming that is age specific. The ability to walk to the shul on Shabbat and Yomtov would be an advantage.


JOB PURPOSE

The successful applicant(s) will have the energy and passion to take on the critical job of building our youth community, to inspire new friendships and to encourage individuals to come together to celebrate their Jewish identity.


1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* To work closely with the lay and religious leadership of Barnet United Synagogue.
* To foster relationships with young people and families in the community and encourage their participation in youth activities.
* Attendance on alternating Shabbatot is required, and availability on other Shabbats and Chaggim will be open to discussion.
* To create and then develop a supporting team of youth volunteers from the community to assist in creating and implementing the experiences.


2. OTHER GENERIC DUTIES

* Committed to the values, aims and objectives of the United Synagogue and act as an ambassador for the organisation.
* Comply with The United Synagogue’s policies and procedures and code of expectations.
* Bring to the attention of senior staff any health and safety requirements, which become obvious. In the event of any immediate danger, to take the appropriate action to reduce risk to physical danger to employees, members, contractors, volunteers, children, parents, visitors or staff.
* Work collaboratively with other colleagues across the organisation to ensure the United Synagogue can achieve its vision, mission, and strategy.
* Undertake appropriate training as requested by your line manager in conjunction with the Human Resources Department and be committed to own continuous professional development.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Chief Executive or other designated senior staff/undertaking such other duties that occasionally fall within the purpose of the post.
* Maintaining high levels of discretion and confidentiality at all times.


3. OTHER INFORMATION

* There will be opportunities for the candidate(s) to receive supervision and professional development from the rabbinic and lay leadership.
* Where required, hospitality will be provided for shabbat and Chagim.


4. PERSON SPECIFICATION

* Excellent organisational skills and the drive to head up this innovative project.
* Exceptional people skills and an ability to engage with the young people in our community.
* The ability and self‑discipline to manage and work efficiently and flexibly.
* Strong communication skills and the confidence to interact with individuals of all ages, both verbal and written.
* Ability to inspire a strong Jewish identity.
* Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of social media.
* Ability to encourage others.
* Flexible approach to working hours.
