We are seeking an experienced and proactive
SHEQ Officer
to join our team and play a vital role in driving safety, health, environment, and quality standards across our civil engineering and jointing operations.
This position is key to ensuring compliance with legislation, maintaining industry accreditation's, and embedding a culture of safety and quality throughout our workforce. The role will have a strong focus on
audit management
and supporting operational teams on site to achieve best practice in
utilityprojects
.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Audits across civil and jointing operations, ensuring full compliance with internal policies, client requirements, and industry standards.
* Conduct and close out workplace inspections, risk assessments, and quality audits, providing clear recommendations and supporting teams in implementing remedial actions.
* Provide hands-on support and professional guidance to site teams during complex civil and jointing works, ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
* Drive improvements in SHEQ performance by identifying risks, trends, and opportunities for continual improvement.
* Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe practices, delivering root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
* Develop and deliver toolbox talks and targeted training sessions to strengthen knowledge of SHEQ compliance and reinforce safety ownership at all levels.
About You
We are looking for someone with the following:
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate (Required),
* Working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 systems.
* Demonstrable experience in audit management within the utilities sectors.
* Strong background in utility and jointing operations (LV networks).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence and engage across all levels.
* Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
* Full UK driving licence.
