Job Introduction
We are building a next-generation data platform to provide seamless access to the BBC's large archive of programme information, metadata, subtitles, transcripts, production data, and restrictions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of transforming our platform and operations.
Main Responsibilities
Alongside the Lead Data Manager, you will:
1. Design the core data model supporting search, discovery, metadata management, and data-driven decision-making.
2. Design efficient data processes and collaborate with architects, engineers, and analysts to implement them.
3. Implement best practices in data governance and management across the Archives.
4. Lay the foundations for further development of the Archive data ecosystem and adopt new data technologies such as machine learning and AI.
5. Define strategies for monitoring and improving data quality.
Are you the right candidate
The ideal candidate will have skills in data modelling, process design, and analytics. You will help shape key elements of our data platform and transformation efforts, working with a diverse team of analysts, architects, engineers, and product managers.
Essential
* Good understanding of core data management principles.
* Entity-Relationship data modelling experience.
* Proficiency in SQL, including regular expressions.
* Experience working with complex data sets and formats.
* Experience with cloud environments, especially AWS.
* Self-starter with an interest in learning new technologies.
* Passion for data.
Desirable
* Experience in data governance.
* Data modelling for other database types.
* Ability to present data design solutions to non-technical audiences.
* Experience with media metadata.
* Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and Agile methodologies.
