3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
* A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a SEND Review Officer to support the delivery of statutory responsibilities related to the review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* This temporary role is suited to an experienced professional with a background in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), looking to contribute to meaningful outcomes for children and young people.
* You will be responsible for ensuring that reviews are conducted in line with national legislation and local policy, ensuring that all processes are timely, inclusive, and child centred.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
* Coordinate and undertake statutory annual reviews of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring legal compliance and high-quality outcomes.
* Liaise with families, schools, professionals, and other stakeholders to gather, assess, and record accurate information.
* Review and amend EHCPs where appropriate, ensuring they continue to reflect the needs, progress, and support required for each child or young person.
* Ensure timely follow-up of review actions in line with statutory timescales and internal procedures.
* Provide professional advice on SEND processes, particularly regarding reviews and the re-assessment of needs.
* Maintain up-to-date, accurate records and case notes in line with data protection and safeguarding requirements.
* Contribute to team meetings, service development initiatives, and best practice sharing.
* Work collaboratively with education, health, and care partners to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to support planning.
Skills/Experience:
* In-depth knowledge and experience of the SEND Code of Practice, particularly relating to EHCP annual reviews.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a person-centred approach to engaging with families and professionals.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Competence in using IT systems to manage case records and documentation accurately.
* Experience working within a local authority or statutory SEND environment.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated regulations.
* Experience in conducting or supporting multi-agency meetings and assessments.
Additional Information:
* Working Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00).
