Role Summary

The post holder will be based within General theatres and will be responsible for both the Plastics and Breast specialities. You will be expected to work clinically, line manage a number of theatre staff and participate in the day to day coordination of the Theatre Department both in and out of hours.

Our Main theatre department covers a wide range of specialities: Colorectal, Upper Gi, Urology, MaxFax & ENT, Plastic & Breast, Orthopaedic Trauma, hour general emergency cover, and we have recently open a state of the art Hybrid vascular suite. We also have two DaVinci robots that are shared between General surgery, Urology, ENT and Gynaecology.

We work closely with colleagues in our other theatre departments such as our orthopaedic theatres, centre for women’s health and our community sites, so we do ask for flexibility when needing to support other areas.

We are looking for a dedicated Experienced Theatre Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join our dynamic perioperative service within our Main theatre suite. You must be a professional, flexible, motivated and committed person who is capable of leading a team and delivering high quality, patient-focussed care and education within a busy, progressive and varied department. This is an opportunity to bring your clinical expertise into a fast‑paced, supportive environment where patient care, teamwork, and professional growth truly matter.

What We’re Looking For

1. HCPC‑registered ODP or NMC‑registered nurse with experience in leading a theatre team
2. Strong clinical judgement and the ability to stay calm under pressure
3. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
4. Commitment to patient safety and evidence‑based practice

What you’ll be doing

Managing the Plastics and Breast specialities through clinical leadership
5. Line managing a number of theatre nurses, ODP’s and Healthcare support workers
6. Delivering high‑quality perioperative care
7. Supporting consultants and theatre colleaguesto ensure safe, efficient surgical lists
8. Preparing and maintaining clinical environmentsto the highest standards
9. Acting as a patient advocatethroughout their surgical journey
10. Contributing to service developmentand continuous improvement initiatives
11. Teaching and supporting students and new starters

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 6-7 rates, inclusive of a pay award implemented from April 6. If you join before this date,, remuneration will be based on the 5-6 pay bandings (Pay scales for 5/ | NHS Employers)
