Job overview
The role is 50% clinical and 50% managerial. The post holder will provide a positive, visible role model, influencing best practices from the clinical base, challenging, encouraging, coaching and mentoring staff appraisal needs as they become apparent.
The post holder will have direct authority over the patient's and staff's working environment by having an immediate influence on cleanliness, medical equipment, infection control, health and safety, morale on the ward, food provision and hydration, and dignity and respect for patients and staff.
Main duties of the job
To provide senior clinical leadership by being creative with both human and physical resources; has the ability to look at new ways of working, highlighting new possibilities and can influence others by seeing and understanding situations from various perspectives.
To manage specialist nurses as appropriate in their areas
The post holder needs to respect other people's feelings, be responsive to both individual and organisational needs, and support others, particularly when experiencing change management.
The post holder must provide specialist clinical knowledge and expertise in their related field. They will drive qualitative, innovative, productive, safe, evidence-based nursing care that promotes best practice and patient outcomes.
Outcomes will be based on direct and indirect patient feedback, internal and external audits, peer reviews, matron’s rounds and corporate quality targets for patients and staff.

Education, Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
11. Registered Nurse (RN) or AHP
12. Significant related clinical experience
13. Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
14. Relevant post‑registration clinical experience.
15. Teaching & Assessment recognised qualification
16. Teaching & Assessment recognised qualification
Desirable criteria
17. Working towards a Master’s OR willing to complete one.
Experience
Essential criteria
18. Significant experience at a senior nursing level within a related field
19. Proven track record in: Change management Team leadership Performance management (All high weighting and essential)
20. Experience managing staff HR issues (sickness, capability, grievance, performance).
Desirable criteria
21. Experience of MDT working across service interfaces
