Overview
The working Technical Supervisor plays a leadership role in the day-to-day management of engineering operations at Whipsnade Zoo. Reporting to and working closely with the Site Manager, the post holder is responsible for supervising on-site maintenance and assisting in the office with Contract Support, overseeing planned and reactive works, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

Hours: 8am-5pm Monday - Friday
Salary: £40-£50k DOE
Responsibilities
* Plan and coordinate resources with Contract Support to deliver reactive, PPM, and planned works in a measurable way that meets client KPIs.
* Lead and supervise a maintenance team, provide guidance, review work, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
* Oversee performance of specialist contractors on site.
* Maintain technical oversight of M&E systems, building services and fabric maintenance.
* Respond to emergencies and assist trades as needed, inside and outside of normal working hours, and coordinate remedial action.
* Carry out QHSE audits to ensure documentation and areas comply with health and safety regulations.
* Manage company tools, emergency and contingency procedures, and issue permits to work per site safety procedures.
* Act as on-call and duty engineer when on rota and as escalation point after probation, deputising for the site manager as required.
* Identify and implement innovations to improve performance and consistently meet or exceed client expectations.
Essential
* Previous experience in a similar role.
* Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
* Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships, display initiative, confidence and professionalism.
* Strong understanding of the built environment; ability to respond promptly to requests and deliver high-quality outcomes with a proactive approach.
* Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations and legislation; hold a full valid driving licence.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
* Full proficiency in Microsoft applications and administration skills; experience leading and managing a maintenance team.
* IOSH Managing Safely; recognised engineering qualifications to level 3 or equivalent in electrical/mechanical/building services.
* Excellent telephone and email manner; quick to adapt to new software and procedures; keen to learn and develop skills within the team.
* Experience managing contractors on site.
