Vacancy Type: Permanent, full time and based on-site.
Salary: Base salary in excess of £75,000pa plus Car Allowance & Discretionary Bonuses
THE ROLE
As the Director of Support - Through Life Support Group (TLSG), you will play a pivotal role in strategically leading the TLSG, encompassing Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) services and the delivery of Through Life Support (TLS) domains. Your leadership will ensure the successful execution of key NP Aerospace programmes from inception to spares support sustainment as part of the Vehicles Systems, Services and Spares (VSSS) Business Unit.
The VSSS Business Unit provides support for the global expansion of NP Aerospace military vehicle engineering and technical services operation. VSSS specialises in complete vehicle integration and support solutions, including the Protected Mobility Engineering Technical Support (PMETS) contract which places NP Aerospace as engineering authority for the UK Ministry of Defence protected mobility fleet. The VSSS team has over 25 years of experience leading complex military vehicle integrations and has supported over 2,000 vehicle platforms.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
You will be able to strategically plan, allocate, and coordinate all TLSG services, including ILS production activities, to support PMETS and enhance the operational delivery of NPA spares products. Drive NPA's aftermarket performance, meeting all contract KPIs, and contributing to market growth, sustainment, and efficiency/capability savings to maximise return on investment.
You will also be instrumental in delivering exceptional aftermarket performance, meeting contractual obligations, and generating growth opportunities to ensure NPA's sustained success and profitability.
The role is primarily site-based, but there can be some flexibility around your working schedule and a level of work-from-home, where suitable.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead TLSG Support Engineering and logistic functions within NPA, implementing the strategy for the TLSG function, including a reporting function to senior management.
* Implementation and adherence to NPA technical and service governance framework.
* Functional management of all Integrated Logistic Support engineering teams and direct management of all Through Life Operations and Logistics for the TLSG.
* Functional / professional leadership of TLSG personnel in NPA, including support and mentorship.
* Define, manage, and develop TLSG engineering/logistics management systems, governance, standards, and processes.
* Accountable for ensuring TLSG deliver with a balanced view of requirements versus technical solution against key discriminators, such as safety, quality, operability, supportability, and cost.
* Provide technical leadership and robust decision making on complex and varied Support engineering risks and solutions.
* Ensure health, safety, environment, sustainability, and security objectives are achieved, with direct responsibility for safety of TLSG personnel and the safe design, validation, and certification of our products for customers and other stakeholders.
* Lead and present the TLSG, to achieve high levels of engagement and promotion of a resilient, diverse, high performing Group.
* Resource Plan for and generation of project / programme outputs specific to TLGS activities and growth analysis.
* Technical ownership of case studies / white papers as required by the business.
* Technical Lead for SME bid support throughout the bid management process.
* Provide assurance and reporting activities to senior management of TLSG work streams.
* Provide SME as part of business winning activities, as such you will provide assurance and oversight of bids considering TLSG requirements and interfaces with other disciplines and areas of the business.
* As lead role in the Supportability engineering discipline, promote all aspects of TLSG, internally and externally; this may include presentations and attendance at various forums and conferences.

CRITICAL OUTPUTS AND ACHIEVEMENT REQUIRED
1. Ensure a "Design for Support" ethos is instilled and utilised within NPA.
2. Ensure correct product synergy is created between business development, design and TLSG to meet NPA planned sustainment.
3. Combine military expertise with commercial acumen to sustain/increase NPA growth.
4. Actively seek to grow and promote NPA TLSG portfolio of services with customers.
5. Direct and support TLSG functional delivery to meet all identified bid, project, and product outputs.
6. Direct and support identification of business opportunities in bids and definition of appropriate investment to realise.
7. Support the implementation and/or development of company policies, procedure, and process to maximise TLSG business performance and investment return.
8. Develop and exploit Support engineering capabilities within the TLSG domain to recognise and source profitable aftermarket requests for key customers.
9. Ensure the TLSG resource is sufficiently sized, scoped and has a capability mix that is optimised to meet technical and commercial outputs.
10. Maintain Support engineering validity of NPA products to sustain aftermarket, including product configuration, surety of source and currency to supply.
EXPERIENCE
Essential:
* Demonstrated experience in a senior leadership role.
* Business and commercial acumen in the Defence or comparable market
* Demonstrable experience of working to Def Stan 00-600 and surrounding policies / processes including but not limited to pertinent JSPs, the Defence Logistics Framework (DLF) and ASD-STANs.
* Educated to Minimum Framework Level 5 in an Engineering discipline
* Leadership and management experience of multi-disciplined teams - min 2-20 pers.
* Business winning activities, including bid writing/generation, oversight, and review
* Experience of Military systems approach to engineering delivery
* Experience of delivering Support Solutions to meet Defence Lines of Development
* Experience of meeting and delivering to UK MoD Support Assessment criteria
* Understanding of MoD Logistic delivery and procurement mechanisms
* Contract management and review, specifically Defence, B2B and Government
* Expert knowledge and use of MoD support and policy systems - DLF, KiD, CSIS, SS3
Desirable:
* Experience of Obsolescence Risk Management techniques and application
* Personnel management - min 2-20 pers
* MS Project literacy
* Knowledge and use of MoD contracting support systems such as DSP
* Military vehicle design experience
* Ability to plan, draft and review Bid documentation at SME level for technical
