We are Forestry England.

We live and breathe forests.

Join us. We're foresters, professionals and experts. We are a passionate team who love to share our enthusiasm and want to make a positive difference for you and the environment.

Together, we’re using our scale and expertise to grow the nation’s forests for everyone. We’re already adapting our landscapes for tomorrow, and getting stuff done today, like creating amazing places and experiences for you to enjoy. We're providing vital homes for wildlife, making our air cleaner to breathe and producing sustainable timber.

What you’ll do…

This is an exciting time to join Forestry England's Wildlife Management team. We are changing how we approach wildlife management with more volunteers and contractors supporting our professional team of wildlife rangers. You will:

* Work with teams across the organisation to develop and implement Forestry England’s Vision for Wildlife Management with a focus on volunteer lead control of squirrel, deer, mink and other species, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of volunteers and supporting the development of opportunities in this specialist area of wildlife management.
* Respond to enquiries related to squirrel and deer control volunteering and provide advice and support to teams to enhance understanding of their roles and responsibilities when managing volunteers, leading control tasks, and establishing new volunteer opportunities.
* Audit and record volunteer-led squirrel and deer control activities to ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, risk assessments, training, record keeping, and delivery of a high-quality volunteer experience.
* Support appropriate volunteer behaviour and assist with the resolution of any conflicts, encouraging respectful and timely communication between staff and volunteers involved in wildlife management.
* As your role develop we expect increased involvement in the management of a range of contracts including those for species control, survey work and larder systems.

Please see the job description on the apply linkbelow for more information and details about what we need from you.

Where you’ll work…

You will provide support across England so you should expect regular travel and some time away from home. Your reporting point will be Bellingham where a hot desk will be available. Other Forestry England locations can be considered. Home working will be available alongside regular office attendance.
