Senior Compliance Advisor - Law Firm (London)

A respected UK law firm with a strong national presence is seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Advisor to join its expanding Compliance Department. This full-service firm has been established in the City for over 150 years and acts for a diverse client base, including multinationals, regulators, charities, and housing associations.
Working closely with the Head of Compliance, this role will support the firm's COLP and ensure regulatory and legal obligations are met. This is a varied and hands-on position suited to a compliance professional with experience in legal practice.
Responsibilities include:
* Review and maintain firm-wide compliance policies, procedures, and risk assessments
* Oversee client onboarding, including AML checks, due diligence, risk analysis, and UBO tracing
* Conduct ongoing monitoring of client files and sanctions screening
* Advise fee earners on AML/CTF and other regulatory compliance queries
* Manage conflict checks and escalate issues where needed
* Deliver compliance inductions and training (in-person and online) for new joiners and staff
* Assist with Lexcel, CQS, and AML audits and accreditations
* Maintain accurate compliance records and support file archiving
* Mentor and supervise junior compliance staff as appropriate
* Collaborate with other departments and contribute to monthly and annual reporting
What we need from you:
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a compliance role within a UK-regulated law firm
* In-depth knowledge of SRA Standards and Regulations, AML regulations, and GDPR
* Proven experience conducting conflict checks and delivering compliance training
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
* Excellent communication, time management, and analytical skills
* Experience supporting accreditations (e.g. Lexcel, CQS) is desirable
* AML certification (e.g. ICA) is advantageous
