Mission description
Your Role As the Manufacturing Engineering Lead NPI & Winding, you will play a critical role in introducing new composite products and winding processes into the Banbury site. Operating in a fast paced and highly technical environment, you will lead the delivery of production ready manufacturing solutions that underpin strategic business growth. You will manage the Composites NPI & Winding Manufacturing Engineering Team, driving product maturity, tooling development, process innovation and readiness for manufacture. You will influence design solutions for existing and future aircraft platforms, while developing cutting edge composite manufacturing techniques.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Composites NPI & Winding Manufacturing Engineering Team
* Drive product maturity and the development of composite components
* Deliver New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and ensure Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) progression
* Lead process innovation, improvements and industrialisation
* Design and develop tooling, jigs and fixtures to support new parts and processes
* Create detailed CAD models and drawings for tooling and components
* Specify, source, install and commission CAPEX manufacturing equipment
* Lead PFMEA activities
* Generate and maintain standard operating procedures and supporting documentation
* Produce manufacturing reports, data and technical communication
* Conduct effective root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
* Support bids for future business opportunities, including cost estimates and timelines
* Capture and deploy lessons learned across projects
Qualifications
* Essential
o Significant experience in Manufacturing Engineering (Aerospace or Automotive preferred), with proven success introducing new products and handing processes over to production
o Experience leading and developing a technical team
o Experience specifying, commissioning and validating manufacturing equipment
* Desirable
o Hands on approach to component development, manufacturing processes and testing
o Strong self motivation, resilience, and results driven mindset
o Effective communication skills at all organisational levels
o Proficiency in creating jigs and fixtures of varying complexity
o Proven track record of delivering technical projects
o Strong capability in root cause analysis
o Experience of product industrialisation
o Experience in composite material manufacturing
o Knowledge of NX / SolidWorks CAD systems
o Experience using CADfil Filament Winding Software
o Professional Engineering accreditation
o Previous experience with product costing
