Our team at The Side by Side is expanding, due to opening up earlier hours for breakfast and brunch, we are looking for a talented chef to join our kitchen team.
We are a busy, quality-driven café bar known for amazing food, great coffee, cocktails and a relaxed but vibrant atmosphere. We pride ourselves on delivering consistently high standards, creative menus, and excellent customer experiences. We are looking for a passionate, reliable, and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team.
Role Overview
As Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality food while maintaining excellent kitchen standards. You will work closely with management to support menu development, food safety compliance, and efficient kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard
* Ensure all dishes are presented to specification and within service times
* Support menu development, seasonal specials, and new dish ideas
* Maintain food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards in line with HACCP and Environmental Health requirements
* Monitor food stock, assist with ordering, and minimise waste
* Follow portion control and recipe specifications to maintain GP targets
* Work collaboratively with front of house staff to ensure smooth service
* Assist in training junior kitchen staff where required
* Ensure all kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained properly
* Support daily opening and closing kitchen procedures
Skills & Experience Required
* Previous experience working as a Chef, Line Chef, or Cook in a fast-paced hospitality environment
* Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
* Ability to work well under pressure and during busy service periods
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Passion for fresh food and quality presentation
* Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player
* Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred but not essential)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.00-£15.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
