UE08: £49,250- £60,321 per annum.

School of Engineering, College of Science & Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering Discipline, Institute for Energy Systems (IES).

Open-ended (permanent) contract.

Full time: 35 Hours per week.

The Opportunity:

The School of Engineering seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Electrical Machines and Drives. The successful candidate will undertake teaching duties in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. They will also carry out research in area of electrical power conversion technologies for clean energy. Specific research areas of interest include condition monitoring of electrical machines and drives, the power electronic control of electrical machines and design of electrical machines in renewable energy or sustainable transportations applications. The successful candidate will join the Institute for Energy Systems (IES) in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh.

The role is UE08 and is available on a full-time, open-ended contract.

Your skills and attributes for success:

1. A reputation in the field of electrical machines and drives for clean energy and/or transportation applications. An ability to design effective learning programmes and to effectively deliver integrated curricula and assessment.
2. Contribution to attracting external research funding and/or other financial support, including funding from the defence and security sector.
3. Excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills and high proficiency in written and oral English language.
4. Hold a Doctorate in a STEM related subject, or equivalent.

The successful candidate appointed will conduct research in the area of electrical machines and drives for clean energy or sustainable transportation applications, in the Research Institute for Energy Systems (IES) and participate in teaching and administration in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, contributing to the intellectual wealth and collegiate environment of the School of Engineering.
