Platform Engineering Director
Location: Sheffield / London / Hybrid Working
(Expectation that you will attend an office 2 days per week)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week/flexible days and/or hours (Mon-Fri)
Salary: Up to £90,000 (Sheffield) / £112,500 (London) depending on experience
THE ROLE
You’ll lead the Bank’s IT platforms and infrastructure, with end-to-end accountability for performance, security and resilience across our cloud and on-premises estates. You’ll oversee technical and security engineering, the Cloud Centre of Excellence, infrastructure and enterprise application support, and IT product ownership, delivering the IT programme while driving measurable improvements in resilience, cost efficiency, automation and platform maturity. You'll lead established platform, infrastructure and security engineering teams, supported by senior technical leaders and product owners, with a clear mandate to modernise and optimise at scale. You’ll set and deliver the platform operating model and infrastructure strategy, aligning with business goals and technology roadmaps, while balancing internal and external capability. You’ll provide architectural oversight of hybrid environments, ensuring scalable, secure, resilient and cost-effective solutions. You’ll lead infrastructure design and operations, managing vulnerability remediation, identity and access controls, and enterprise application lifecycles with a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement.
You’ll bring extensive experience leading complex enterprise platforms, with expertise in cloud technologies (preferably Azure), hybrid infrastructure, Technology Service Management and security engineering. You’ll have a proven track record in resilience, compliance and risk management, optimising platform performance at scale.
