We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our client, Northern Ireland Civil Service, based in Carrickfergus as a full-time Assistant Scientific Officer. This is a long-term temporary opportunity.Our client is Northern Ireland’s Leading Public Sector Employer. Administrator Pay Rate: £13.75 Start Date: ASAP Key Accountabilities: Assistant Scientific Officers are responsible for the description, recovery and/or the examination/analysis of materials from a variety of items. ASOs work across different areas and will cover a broad cross-section of work. This role is also Lab based. Knowledge of the working environment

6. Ensuring relevant staff are kept fully informed of developments.
Achieving results
7. Carrying out recovery and examinations.
8. Carrying out analytical tests.
9. Delivering results against instructions accurately and in line with expected deadlines.
10. Exhibit storage and retrieval.
11. Preparation of laboratory reagents and solvents.
12. Making appropriate records as work proceeds, ensuring results are accurately recorded and Sample Manager and Casebook Management System are updated.
13. Attending court/case conferences, as appropriate.
14. Attending and assisting in the forensic examination of scenes of crime.
15. May be required to undertake other duties as required e.g. sectional finance support.
16. May be required to work an on-call rota operation.
Quality
17. Ensuring results are validated through carrying out appropriate quality checks.
18. Completing all work in line with FSNI accepted quality standards and technical operating procedures

Qualifications and experience
24. 4 GCE/GCSE ‘O’ levels, grades A – C. These must include English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject.
25. 6 months relevant experience in the last 5 years.
