Do you have a strong administrative background and experience working within a Higher Education, or office environment with face-to-face contact with a variety of people? If you can answer yes to this question, we would welcome your application.
The Student Support Coordinator provides a professional and wide-ranging administrative and pastoral service within the divisional Student Support team. Working closely with the colleagues within the team, and the Academic Lead for Student Life and Guidance, they will aim to identify and address any challenges students may face, helping to minimise their impact wherever possible, so that academic achievement and the quality of the student experience and engagement remains paramount. The team provide a student-facing pastoral service and also signpost the central professional service provision for students where this is a more appropriate course of action.
As Student Support Coordinator you can expect to be involved in:
* Acting as a contact point and referral service to students with difficulties or problems that may be, or are at risk of affecting their studies, ensuring that incoming enquiries and contacts are managed, triaged and directed appropriately. Signposting students to services available from within KMMS and the appropriate central Student Support team at the University of Kent
* Administering the Inclusive Learning Plans (ILPs) in line with University and KMMS policies and guidelines.
* Working closely with the colleagues to identify any students that are a cause for concern due to a lack of engagement and escalate these concerns with the appropriate member of staff or team.
* Support the collation of mitigation applications and evidence, maintain student records in line with University and GDPR requirements, and record data related to mitigation decisions to enable informed outcomes.
* Monitoring all enquiries via email, telephone or in person to ensure student enquiries are dealt with as swiftly as possible, responding to basic enquiries from staff and students with an interest in the pastoral care and wellbeing of students
What will you bring to the role?
* Educated to GCSE in English & Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
* Have experience of working in an office environment with face to face contact with a variety of people, ideally in an advisory role
* Have good IT skills particularly in MS Office packages and experience in using spreadsheets and databases to intermediate level
* Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and accurately with wide range of people
