Summary:

As a Family Support Worker for St. Helens MBC, you will play a vital role in providing high-level assistance to qualified Social Workers. Your primary focus is to protect and support families subject to statutory procedures within Childrens Social Care. This is a "hands-on" role where you will work directly with children, young people, and their families to deliver practical interventions, manage supervised "Family Time," and help build resilient, healthy home environments. You will be a persistent advocate for the voice of the child, ensuring their needs are central to every assessment and care plan.

Responsibilities:

* Assist Social Workers with caseloads by contributing to assessments and helping to develop and deliver tailored care packages.
* Deliver domestic-based, practical support and intervention programs to help parents/carers provide a positive environment for their children.
* Arrange and facilitate supervised Family Time (contact) between children and their families, working on a weekly rota that includes evenings and weekends.
* Use evidence-based tools (e.g., Signs of Safety, Graded Care Profile) to monitor family progress, reduce risk, and build long-term resilience.

Qualifications:

* A relevant qualification in Childcare, Social Care, or Youth Work (typically Level 3 or equivalent) is highly desirable.

Essentials:

* A clear understanding of St. Helens Safeguarding Children Partnership policies and statutory procedures.
* Proven experience working with children, young people, and families, particularly those in crisis or subject to statutory intervention.
* Experience in delivering "hands-on" domestic support or parenting programs that improve home environments.

Please note:

* You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
* You should have right to work in U.K
* This role requires an Enhanced DBS
