We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Geriatrician to join a leading healthcare team in Derby, UK. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic and well-supported department, providing expert care to elderly patients with complex medical needs.
As a Consultant Geriatrician, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality geriatric care, leading multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the ongoing development of elderly care services.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and management of elderly patients with acute and chronic conditions.
* Lead ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and frailty assessment units.
* Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and social workers, to deliver holistic patient care.
* Develop and implement treatment plans focused on rehabilitation, falls prevention, and long-term care planning.
* Support the hospital's acute frailty services, ensuring early intervention for elderly patients.
* Supervise and mentor junior doctors, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
* Participate in clinical governance, research, audits, and service improvement initiatives.
* Engage in teaching and training activities for medical students and junior doctors.
Requirements
Requirements:
* Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
* CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Geriatric Medicine or General Internal Medicine (or equivalent).
* Extensive NHS experience in geriatric medicine.
* Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
