Job overview
We are currently Recruiting a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist to join our friendly and enthusiastic Emergency care team. We comprise of Physio's, OT's and Therapy Assistants. We aim to avoid hospital admission providing assessments and discharge assessments for patients on the medical assessment wards. When discharges cannot be avoided detailed intervention plans ensure that the patient journey through the hospital is streamlined and a focus on discharge is maintained.
We expect a high standard of assessment and treatment of patients. You will work as an autonomous clinician, using accurate analytical skills and clinical reasoning to interpret assessment, identify patient problems, set goals, and provide treatment plans.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate confident clinical decision making. Post graduate experience of working in a fast-paced acute hospital setting is desirable. An understanding of discharge pathways and community services, SAFER principles and the Discharge to Assess model is essential.
Excellent communication skills is expected and confidence working alongside colleagues within the MDT at all levels. You will require good organisational skills, excellent time management and to work well under pressure to manage your caseload.
The service we deliver allows opportunities for MDT working within the team and promotes positive relationships with medical, nursing staff and social care staff across frailty, emergency care, and community services.
Main duties of the job
As a clinical specialist Physiotherapist you will provide a high standard, comprehensive, physiotherapy assessment and treatment service of patients with a wide range of conditions across admission prevention areas within the trust.
You will work as an autonomous clinician, using accurate analytical skills and clinical reasoning to interpret assessment findings, making diagnoses where appropriate, identifying patient problems, setting goals, and providing an appropriate treatment plan and progression.
You will be expected to be an active member of a 7-day working service, and Upon completion and maintenance of on call competencies, to work unsupervised in an on-call and out of hour’s emergency service.
