Overview
Based in Fairfield House as part of the Business Applications Team within Corporate Resources, you will provide support for staff utilising several Council systems and applications including SEEMiS, Groupcall, Parents Portal and the potential future delivery of a client transport system. You will provide day to day support to users and advise on associated business processes. You will support the implementation, operation and ongoing development of these systems/applications (this does not include the support of digital hardware and infrastructure) and support any relevant projects. You will deliver training to system users as required and ensure that any required periodic processing and production of reports is completed accurately and according to timetables.
Responsibilities
* Provide day to day support to staff using Council systems and applications (e.g., SEEMiS, Groupcall, Parents Portal) and assist with potential future system implementations.
* Support the implementation, operation and ongoing development of these systems/applications and related projects (excluding hardware/infrastructure).
* Deliver training to system users and ensure timely production of reports according to agreed timetables.
* Advise on business processes and assist with changes to procedures as required.
Qualifications
* Essential – Educational/Vocational Qualifications: SVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g., HNC Information Technology, Information Management, Business Information Systems) with evidence of numeracy and literacy at Higher Grade.
* Essential – Experience: Advanced MS Excel skills; developed interpersonal skills to agree and implement changes in procedures; understanding of legislation related to information retention.
* Desirable – Ability to produce and manipulate data using various query and reporting tools; experience in systems administration including helpdesk; experience in staff training; experience in designing and producing training/procedural/guidance documentation.

Please note that Midlothian Council policy appoints to the first point on the salary scale. Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary is £30,243.53 per annum.
