Proactive is currently hiring for a Robotics Software Engineer role based in Oxfordshire, offering a competitive salary of £80-100K.
What does this role involve?
* Developing and maintaining autonomy software for real-world robotic systems
* Working with ROS 2, utilizing modern C++ (17/20) and Python
* Integrating perception, planning, and control modules
* Collaborating with deployment teams to support complex field operations
* Occasional travel for hands‑on deployment support
* Working onsite with the robotics team in Oxford Verda
Requirements:
* Proven industry experience or strong academic background
* Evidence of past work such as open-source contributions, competition results, or deployed systems
* Solid experience with ROS 2, C++, and Python
* Familiarity with Linux, Git, CI/CD, and containerization
* Willingness to travel for hands‑on deployment (when required)
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
Strong Advantage If You Have:
* Expertise in LiDAR sensor integration
* Experience designing robotic software at scale
* Background in LiDAR-based SLAM, segmentation, or other perception pipelines
* Contributions to open-source robotics projects
* Participation in competitions like RoboCup, Formula Student AI, or DARPA challenges
