SEMH Support Assistant Location: Chester le Street Working hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (Monday to Friday) Contract type: Long term, temporary, full time Leader Education are recruiting for a committed and resilient professional to support Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a specialist provision. About the school This setting supports young people who are at risk of, or have experienced, permanent exclusion from mainstream education. The provision delivers a structured and nurturing programme designed to re-engage learners and support successful reintegration into mainstream schooling wherever appropriate. The school maintains high expectations for all pupils, ensuring access to a broad and balanced curriculum aligned as closely as possible with the National Curriculum, alongside targeted pastoral and emotional support. Learners also benefit from a holistic approach to education, with access to outdoor learning environments, including garden and forest school provision, which promote wellbeing, engagement, and personal development. About you The successful candidate will be a proactive and compassionate practitioner with strong behaviour management skills and a genuine belief in the potential of every young person. You will play a key role in creating a safe, consistent, and supportive environment, enabling students to rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes.
