My Client is recruiting for a Mechanical/Lead Mechanical Engineer in the Water Sector. We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Lead/Mechanical Engineer based at our Peterborough office with hybrid working available. We are gearing up for our most exciting and challenging Asset Management Period yet, known as AMP 8. This will see us deliver a programme of work larger than we've ever delivered before. As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical direction to our mechanical engineering team, focusing on water or water recycling non-infrastructure projects.
Your expertise will ensure that designs are compliant with legislation and standards, and optimized for efficiency and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
2. Champion innovative approaches and digital technologies to enhance project outcomes.
3. Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering their development within the mechanical team.
Role Accountabilities:
* Engineering Leadership: Report regularly to the Principal Engineer and collaborate closely with project stakeholders.
* Review design deliverables for quality, safety, and compliance, providing guidance to junior team members.
* Contribute to construction design management and commissioning strategies.
* Drive sustainability initiatives and explore modular construction solutions.
Health & Safety:
* Ensure designs adhere to statutory and industry standards, including health and safety regulations.
* Offer alternative solutions to enhance health and safety compliance and minimize whole-life costs.
* Manage knowledge sharing and contribute to lessons learned initiatives.
Transformation:
* Embrace digital technologies to improve project efficiency and accuracy.
* Support efforts to reduce carbon footprint and promote sustainable practices.
* Mentor team members and foster continuous improvement.
Delivery:
* Provide guidance and direction to ensure project designs are affordable, sustainable, and delivered on time, meeting client obligations.
Experience and Qualifications:
* A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field or similar.
* Proven experience in mechanical engineering within the water sector.
* Strong leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and developing junior engineers.
* In-depth knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
* Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant engineering tools.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* Ideally chartered or working towards Chartership.
