Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Location: London, West Malling, Sittingbourne (multi-site)
Overview
We are working with a growing contractor to recruit a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial function across multiple live sites. Reporting directly to the Commercial Lead, this role will assist with the day-to-day commercial management of projects, with a particular focus on procurement, subcontractor administration, and payment processes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS looking to develop their commercial knowledge within a supportive environment, gaining exposure to wider commercial reporting and business operations over time.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with procurement activities across 3–4 concurrent sites
* Prepare and issue subcontractor enquiries and support package evaluations
* Support the administration of subcontractor accounts, including valuations, variations, and final accounts
* Assist with managing and processing payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
* Maintain cost tracking information and support project financial control
* Provide support to the Commercial Lead with reporting and forecasting tasks
* Liaise with site teams to ensure commercial activities align with project delivery
* Utilise Excel and Construction Manager (Eque2) for reporting and cost management

* Hands-on position focused on supporting daily commercial operations

Requirements
* Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or commercial support role within construction
* Basic understanding of procurement and subcontractor management
* Competent in Excel; experience with Eque2 (Construction Manager) advantageous
* Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Eager to learn and develop within a commercial environment
