What will you do?
Ensure CHP and power generation systems are properly designed, installed, and fully tested so they work as expected before handover.
Review installation plans ahead of each project and help produce clear as-fitted documentation for both electrical and mechanical elements.
Carry out commissioning and testing of CHP and generator systems (415V-11kV) across UK sites, ensuring they run smoothly and meet performance standards.
troubleshoot electrical issues, carry out upgrades to control systems, and reprogram where needed to improve performance or reliability.
Set up and test protection relays (including G99), working with the DNO to make sure everything meets required standards.
Commission heating, cooling, and fuel systems, making sure flow rates, pressures, and backpressures match design specifications.
Follow all safety procedures on site, complete risk assessments, and keep clear records using digital reporting tools.
Support and train apprentices, work closely with other teams, and provide feedback on how systems could be improved for easier maintenance.
Where will you be doing it?
You'll be working for renewable energy specialist based in Merseyside. They design and operate liquid and gas-powered CHP and power generation systems, offering reliable, zero-carbon energy solutions across the UK.
What will you need?
A recognised apprenticeship in electrical installation or maintenance, or at least 3 years' experience in a similar commissioning role in power generation.
18th Edition qualification.
Strong programming knowledge of multiple PLC systems.
Full UK driving licence.
Ability to obtain an enhanced DBS.
