Nuclear Safety Lead
Location: Remote, UK
Role Type: Full time / Permanent
Onsite or Hybrid: Hybrid
The role is full time, working 37 hours per week, and can be undertaken remotely with occasional travel to Cavendish Nuclear and customer sites in the north‑west of England.
Responsibilities
* Providing technical leadership across nuclear safety engineering, ensuring high‑quality, compliant and assured engineering outputs
* Leading and overseeing assurance activities, including review, verification and approval of safety cases, analyses and technical documentation
* Managing and developing multidisciplinary teams, promoting collaboration, capability growth and engineering best practice
* Engaging with customers and regulators, building strong relationships and providing clear technical leadership through delivery challenges
* Supporting business development, contributing to bids, tenders and future programme shaping
Essential Experience
* Proven experience leading nuclear safety engineering assurance within a highly regulated environment
* Demonstrable experience authoring and approving nuclear safety cases
* Strong background in technical leadership across complex engineering programmes
* Experience working with regulatory and licensing processes, including safety submissions
* Capability to manage engineering delivery from concept through to full project lifecycle
Qualifications
* Engineering degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
* Chartered Engineer status or demonstrable capability to achieve registration
* Membership of a relevant professional engineering institution is advantageous
